2021 NFL season: Notable injuries, news from Sunday's Week 8 games

Injuries and news we're monitoring around the NFL on this Week 8 Sunday:

  • Minnesota Vikings defensive end Danielle Hunter (shoulder) was ruled out ahead of the second half of Sunday night's game against the Cowboys. Following the game, head coach Mike Zimmer said Hunter would have an MRI on Monday.
  • Dallas Cowboys offensive tackle Tyron Smith left Sunday night's game in the first half due to an ankle injury. Rookie linebacker Jabril Cox (knee) was ruled out late in the third quarter. Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs suffered a sprained ankle in Sunday's win.
  • New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston was carted to the locker room with a knee injury and ruled out.
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski was ruled out against the Saints due to back spasms. Sunday marked Gronkowski's return to action since suffering a ribs injury in Week 3.
  • Jacksonville Jaguars running back James Robinson was questionable to return against the Seahawks but did not. Coach Urban Meyer told reporters afterward that Robinson suffered a bruised heel, though he does not know the extent of the injury or how long he will be out.
  • Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller is inactive for Sunday's game against the Washington Football Team. He was questionable after not practicing all week. Left tackle Garett Bolles has been ruled questionable to return after leaving the game in the fourth quarter. He did not return. Cornerback Bryce Callahan left the game late with a knee injury.
  • Washington Football Team offensive lineman Ereck Flowers exited in the second half with an apparent leg injury and did not return.
  • Los Angeles Chargers cornerback Michael Davis (hamstring) has been ruled out against the Patriots. Running back Justin Jackson (quad) was questionable but did not return. Cornerback Asante Samuel Jr. was evaluated for a possible concussion.
  • Carolina Panthers quarterback Sam Darnold exited Sunday's game against the Falcons due to a concussion. Darnold sustained a big hit on a red-zone run in the fourth quarter. He was replaced at quarterback by backup P.J. Walker.
  • Chicago Bears safety Eddie Jackson did not return against the 49ers after suffering a hamstring injury in the first quarter. Running back Damien Williams (knee) also exited early and di not return.
  • Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jalen Reagor (ankle) was ruled out against the Lions. Offensive lineman Jack Driscoll (hand) and wide receiver J.J. Arcega-Whiteside (ankle) also exited early.
  • Cleveland Browns offensive tackle Jack Conklin (elbow) was ruled out against the Steelers. Safety John Johnson III was ruled out with a neck injury.
  • Indianapolis Colts defensive tackle Tyquan Lewis (knee) and safety Khari Willis (calf) were ruled out against the Titans.
  • New York Jets offensive tackle George Fant (ankle) was ruled out against the Bengals. Wide receiver Denzel Mims (finger) also exited early.
  • Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Chris Boswell was ruled out against the Browns after being evaluated for a concussion. Coach Mike Tomlin said afterward he's in the concussion protocol.
  • Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Tutu Atwell (shoulder) exited early against the Texans and did not return.
