Barring setback, Titans RB Johnson likely to play vs. Jaguars

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Chris Johnson is back practicing, though limited for the Tennessee Titans, but barring any soreness in his ankle, the running back should play Saturday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Johnson hurt his right ankle when tackled at the end of a 35-yard run late in last week's 27-13 loss at Indianapolis, and he didn't practice Tuesday or Wednesday.

"CJ was limited, but he looked pretty good running," Titans coach Mike Munchak said. "He did some reps, and if there's no soreness for him tomorrow, I would assume he is in good shape."

The Titans don't have to designate the probability of if injured players will play until Friday, but Johnson is expected to go.

Johnson said he originally thought the injury might have been as bad as his rookie season when he was hurt in a playoff loss to the Baltimore Ravens, an injury that kept him from playing in his first Pro Bowl.

With two games remaining, Johnson is 70 yards away from 1,000 rushing. If he reaches that, he would join Hall of Fame running back Earl Campbell (1978-1981) and Eddie George (1996-2000) as the only ones to run for at least 1,000 yards in each of his first four seasons with this franchise.

Linebacker Gerald McRath didn't practice Thursday with his sprained left knee and ankle. Linebacker Patrick Bailey (hamstring) and defensive end William Hayes (groin) both practiced, as did wide receiver Nate Washington (ankle).

Defensive end Dave Ball practiced after missing Wednesday while his wife gave birth to a son.
