Bears place Walters on IR, sign Venable to replace him

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- The Chicago Bears have signed safety Winston Venable and placed safety Anthony Walters on season-ending injured reserve with a hamstring injury.

Venable, an undrafted free agent out of Boise State, had five special-teams tackles in five games for the Bears before being waived last month.

Walters, an undrafted free agent from Delaware, had one special-teams stop in four games.

The Bears announced the moves Wednesday. Their active roster stands at 52.
