Bears sign tackle Vieira, waive injured Brant

LAKE FOREST, IL —- The Chicago Bears signed tackle Steven Vieira today. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The team also waived injured tackle Aaron Brant, who was originally selected by the Bears in the seventh round (241st overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft.

Vieira spent the 2007 NFL Europa season with the Berlin Thunder. The UCLA product was originally signed by the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted rookie free agent on April 29, 2005. He finished his rookie campaign in 2005 on the Bengals practice squad for the final eight games of the season after spending the first half of the season on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform List.

In 2006, the Oceanside, California native was assigned to NFL Europe and saw action in all 10 games for the Hamburg Sea Devils.

Vieira concluded his collegiate career with 41 consecutive starts at both guard and left tackle for the Bruins.
