Bengals' AJ McCarron says he's good to go for Sunday

The Cincinnati Bengals have avoided another nuclear-level disaster under center.

AJ McCarron told reporters on Wednesday that his sprained left wrist isn't a threat to keep him out of this week's practice or Sunday's pivotal finale against the Baltimore Ravens.

"I don't have any concerns," McCarron said, per the team's Twitter feed, which noted that Andy Dalton's backup "should be good to go on Sunday."

The Bengals also have the untested Keith Wenning and journeyman Mike Kafka in the building, but it would be highly preferable if neither take a snap in such a meaningful tilt. Despite Monday night's loss to Denver, Cincy can still clinch a first-round bye with a win over Baltimore plus a Broncos loss to the Chargers. The Bengals can also score a bye with a loss, if Denver falls to San Diego and the Chiefs beat Oakland.

McCarron was impressive against the Broncos after playing well in a Week 15 win over the 49ers. Play-caller Hue Jackson showed plenty of trust in the second-year signal-caller on Monday night, allowing him to rip the ball downfield time and again.

In what promises to be a very unusual group of AFC playoff passers, a healthy McCarron is just what the doctor ordered until Dalton is ready to return to the fray.
