This week, College Football 24/7 takes a look at the best and worst picks in the 2016 NFL Draft for every team, continuing today with the AFC West and NFC West teams:
Denver Broncos
Best pick:Andy Janovich, FB (Round 6, No. 176 overall)
Skinny: It's unusual to place a fullback in the "best pick" category, but he plays a position that Gary Kubiak understands how to utilize. He can block, catch, handle short-yardage carries, and he's a special-teams ace. Janovich was a great value pick.
Worst pick:Adam Gotsis, DT (Round 2, No. 63 overall)
Skinny: I like Gotsis. I'm picking at him here a little bit because I thought he could have been had in the third round. Gotsis is strong and motors up each snap, but he's coming off an ACL injury and he's not a very dangerous pass rusher.
Kansas City Chiefs
Best pick:D.J. White, CB (Round 6, No. 178 overall)
Skinny: White has good size, athleticism and short-area cover talent. While he needs to improve his play strength and tackling, the Chiefs might have nabbed a quality backup late in the draft with White.
Worst pick:Parker Ehinger, OG (Round 4, No. 105 overall)
Skinny: Teams seemed to be split on Ehinger. Some had him pegged for a fourth-round selection and others had him going much later. Some had him going undrafted. To me, Ehinger's lack of core strength could become a big issue with a move inside, which makes the fourth round an early spot to take him.
Oakland Raiders
Best pick:Vadal Alexander, OG (Round 7, No. 234 overall)
Skinny: During the draft process, I would have told you that Alexander was an overrated prospect. Since he didn't go until the seventh round, I see him as a value pick. Alexander has his issues -- he lacks athleticism and struggles to sustain blocks -- but he's powerful and has the size to match up with NFL power on the interior. Alexander could eventually become a starter thanks to his size and power traits.
Worst pick:Jihad Ward, DT (Round 2, No. 44 overall)
Skinny: I fully expected Ward to go in the second round based on league intel, but I just can't get on board with taking him that early. Ward has the size for a move from defensive end to defensive tackle, but his ability to anchor down against power seemed limited to me. I think the floor could be low with this pick.
San Diego Chargers
Best pick:Hunter Henry, TE (Round 2, No. 35 overall)
Skinny: I saw Henry as the best tight end in this draft, so I liked this pick a lot. What really makes this a "best pick" is that Henry can provide help as a pass catcher and run blocker. He's a fit for what is quickly becoming a hole for the Chargers.
Worst pick:Joshua Perry, LB (Round 4, No. 102 overall)
Skinny:Â I felt like Perry was a little too stiff and limited to go with the No. 102 pick. I like that he's a thumper between the tackles, but I worry that if he becomes a starter, teams will try to attack him via the pass from base packages. If he becomes a quality backup and high-end special-teams player, the early fourth-round spot wouldn't be too high at all.
