Brock Purdy (toe), Ricky Pearsall (knee) expected to be questionable for 49ers vs. Rams on Thursday

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy will be questionable to play on Thursday against the rival Los Angeles Rams due to a nagging toe injury, general manager John Lynch said during a Tuesday radio interview.

Purdy previously missed the 49ers' games in Week 2 and 3 due to turf toe, and 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said on Monday the veteran QB reported discomfort in his toe following San Francisco's loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

"We will take every precaution to make sure Brock's all right," Lynch said, via The Athletic. "I think he is. Now it's just a matter of, can he turn it around on a short week?"

Purdy told reporters later Tuesday that he feels "a lot better" compared to how he felt following the 49ers' Week 1 win over the Seahawks.

"Quick turnaround Thursday night game and everything," said Purdy, who will not practice on Tuesday. "It's just tougher. You don't have as many days to get right and heal up and feel better."

Purdy added, per NBC Sports Bay Area, that he would not be able to play if the game was Tuesday, but "I have two days" to be able to face the Rams.

The Thursday kickoff could make it more likely that Mac Jones will make his third start of the season. Jones has gone 53-of-80 passing for 563 yards with four touchdowns to one interception in two starts -- both wins -- this season.

Whoever starts at QB for San Francisco on Thursday could be without top target Ricky Pearsall, who is dealing with a knee injury. Pearsall, who is also not practicing Tuesday, is likewise expected to be questionable for Thursday Night Football, per Lynch.
