The Titans seem to have their quarterback. Next up: Find a head coach.
Rookie signal-caller Cam Ward wants to be involved in the coach-hiring process, the quarterback told reporters Wednesday.
"I want to meet all of them," Ward said of the next candidates, via ESPN. "Every coach who gets the opportunity to come here, I want to have conversations throughout the process with them. I'm going to be here for that whole time."
Since firing Brian Callahan before the midpoint of the 2025 season, Tennessee has had plenty of time to build a list of potential candidates and perform initial research on their potential selections. With three games left in a season that has long been more about developing rookies (like Ward, Chimere Dike, Elic Ayomanor, Gunnar Helm, etc.) than it has been about winning, the time to focus on hiring Callahan's replacement is fast approaching.
It's a decision Tennessee must nail. The Titans' descent to the bottom earned them the right to select Ward, but in order to maximize his and their potential, the next hire has to be the right fit for Ward and the rest of the franchise.
Ward's willingness to stay in Nashville after a grueling rookie season suggests he'll become the on-field leader the Titans desperately need. He's aiming to help them find his headset-wearing equivalent in January. We'll see if it works.
