Chain-crew member continues improvement, remains in hospital

NEW ORLEANS -- The son of a chain-crew member said Al Nastasi Jr. continues to improve from a head injury suffered when Saints special-teams member Courtney Roby ran over him during Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns.

Al Nastasi III, a physical therapist, told WWL-TV that he worried about paralysis when he saw the hit. But he said tests didn't show any injury to the spinal cord.

He said his father's appetite is solid and his spirits are high. But he told The Times-Picayune it's not clear when his 68-year-old father will leave Ochsner Medical Center.

Roby was sprinting up field on punt coverage when he was pushed out of bounds and hit Nastasi, a high-school track coach and elementary school physical education teacher.
