Chargers sign Herron, release Obiozor in linebacker swap

The San Diego Chargers announced Tuesday that they have signed linebacker David Herron, who played in 10 games last season for the Kansas City Chiefs, and waived outside linebacker Cyril Obiozor.

The move was made after special-teamer Kion Wilson sustained an ankle injury in practice Friday.

Herron has made 20 special-teams tackles in 26 NFL games, and he made six tackles in three 2008 starts for the Minnesota Vikings. He began his career as an undrafted free agent with the Vikings in 2007.

Obiozor, who was signed from the Arizona Cardinals' practice squad on Oct. 5, played in two games for the Chargers. He played in five games last year for the Green Bay Packers and in one for Cardinals this season.
