Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes to have full complement of WRs with Rashee Rice's return from suspension

The Kansas City Chiefs are on their way to having their fullest complement of offensive weapons in years.

Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is set to return to practice this week after sitting out his six-game suspension. When he returns to game action, it will mark the first time that he, Xavier Worthy and Marquise Brown are on the field in a regular-season affair.

The trio spent one snap last preseason together before Brown suffered a shoulder injury that would knock him out for most of the 2024 season. Then Rice went down with a season-ending knee injury in Week 4.

The Chiefs brought back Brown in free agency this offseason. Worthy, who missed two games due to a shoulder injury from colliding with Travis Kelce in Week 1, is back to form. Now Rice is on his way to seeing the field.

"I know he's (Rashee Rice) been working like crazy," head coach Andy Reid said of Rice on Monday. "… And I think it's just a matter of getting him back in the swing. I've got to see it to kind of work through it. I know he's in good shape, that's the one thing that I do know. I think that will be important, him coming back in there and getting with Patrick (Mahomes) and kind of getting on the same page and that whole deal. But we'll just see how all that works out. We haven't put the game plan in yet so we're working through all of that now."

After adding Brown and drafting Worthy last offseason, it was easy to see general manager Brett Veach's vision for the offense. Worthy the deep speed threat, Brown patrolling the intermediate, and Rice winning off the line as the possession-type. Unfortunately, we've yet to see whether the premise on paper translates to the field.

Couple in the WR trio with the trusty Kelce and the Chiefs offense is in the best spot it's been in years.

Patrick Mahomes and the offense have shown more juice the past few weeks, scoring 28-plus points in their last three contests. Finally getting their full complement of targets together, the Chiefs could be set to explode.
