New Bears safety Coby Bryant eager to face former team in 2026: Seahawks 'better be ready for me'

New Bears safety Coby Bryant is already planning to circle one game on next season's schedule.

"We actually play Seattle this year, in Seattle, so they better be ready for me, for sure," the ex-Seahawks defensive back told Kay Adams this week on the Up & Adams show.

After winning a Super Bowl with his former team, Bryant inked a three-year, $40 million contract in Chicago. If he has his preference, the Bears will be the kickoff opponent against the Super Bowl winner. That would put Bryant in the building when the Seahawks raise their championship banner.

"I wouldn't mind honestly starting the season off out there, honestly," he said. "Weather will be nice. The whole world will be watching."

Bryant, a fourth-round pick out of Cincinnati, began his career as a corner before former coach Pete Carroll moved him to safety. Mike Macdonald continued using Bryant as a multifaceted DB, deploying him mostly at free safety but also dropping him into the box and occasionally filling the slot.

While he was initially reticent to move from corner to safety, the transition unlocked his potential and ultimately led to his payday in Chicago.

"When they moved me to safety in Seattle a couple of years ago, I was pretty pissed, I'm not going to lie," Bryant said. "Like, I didn't want to play safety. I just always wanted to play corner, but they knew what it could do to my career, and I'm beyond thankful that they were able to do that for me. It just unlocks me being the best player and best leader that I can be for the team I'm on, and just ultimately [allows me to] go out there and make the plays that I'm capable of making."

The Bears are paying Bryant to make plays in 2026, including against his former team.
