Dan Connor, New York Giants linebacker, out of jail after arrest

New York Giants linebacker Dan Connor was released from jail Sunday on his own recognizance after he was arrested over the weekend at Philadelphia International Airport, a Philadelphia Police Department spokeswoman confirmed Monday to NFL Network and

Connor was arrested Saturday morning after federal authorities alleged that a switchblade was found in his luggage.

Officer Jillian Russell of the public affairs department released the following statement to NFL Network and

"On Saturday, July 6, 2013 at approximately 9 a.m., inside of Philadelphia International Airport, a TSA officer observed a switchblade in the luggage of a male who was attempting to enter a terminal at the airport. The knife was first observed on an X-ray machine monitor by a TSA officer. After making the observation, Philadelphia Police were notified and the male was taken into custody. The male has been identified as Dan Connor, a 27-year-old male from Charlotte, N.C. Connor is charged with possession of an offensive weapon."

Giants spokesman Pat Hanlon said team officials were aware of the situation and have spoken to Connor, "who is cooperating with the authorities in Philadelphia."
