DE Phillip Merling waived by Dolphins

MIAMI (AP) - Defensive end Phillip Merling has been waived by the Miami Dolphins after making only seven tackles over the past two seasons.

Merling was the 32nd overall pick in the 2008 draft but started only five games in four seasons with Miami. He missed the first 11 games in 2010 with an Achilles tendon injury.

He was released Monday by the Dolphins, who will be the market for a pass rusher in this week's draft.
