Todd Herremans is on his way out of Philadelphia.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday that the Eagles are releasing the veteran guard, the team's longest-tenured player, per a source informed of the move.
Herremans, 32, has toiled for 10 seasons in Philly, starting 124 games over that span as a fixture along the interior line. His 2014 campaign, though, came crashing to a close in November when Herremans was placed on injured reserve to undergo surgery on a torn biceps. His non-guaranteed $4 million salary for next season made him a strong candidate for release.
The Eagles now lack depth at guard, with Matt Tobin and Andrew Gardner failing to look like long-term solutions. Dennis Kelly also plays the position, but get ready for Chip Kelly and the team's revamped front office to actively pursue line help in free agency and the draft.
