Falcons set to re-sign backup QB Redman

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- The Atlanta Falcons plan to sign backup quarterback Chris Redman to a contract extension.

Terms of the deal, which Redman is expected to sign soon, weren't released Friday.

Redman first joined the Falcons in 2007 and went 0-2 as a starter last season while filling in for former NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Matt Ryan. Redman is 4-8 in his NFL career.

A third-round draft pick by the Baltimore Ravens in 2000, Redman has completed 56.7 percent of 466 career passes for 2,971 yards, with 21 touchdowns, 13 interceptions and a 79.3 rating.
