Free-agent QB Aaron Rodgers visits Steelers; no deal imminent

As we approach the final week of March, Aaron Rodgers is still a free agent.

There was movement on that front Friday, however, as Rodgers visited the Pittsburgh Steelers' facility, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported. Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette first reported the news.

Rodgers left without a deal and a signing is not imminent, Pelissero reported.

Pittsburgh and Rodgers, 41, have had contract parameters in place for weeks. Thusly, financial details were not a discussion point Friday, as the visit was more about both parties getting to know each other. The New York Giants remain involved as a potential destination, as well, for Rodgers, who holds the decision in his hands, Pelissero added.

Rodgers has taken his time with his free agency decision in 2025. He's been linked to both the Steelers and Giants for weeks and briefly appeared to be considering the Minnesota Vikings. However, as Pelissero reported earlier this week, the Vikings are not pursuing Rodgers, leaving the veteran with two serious options.

The wait has already irritated one Steeler, venerated defender Cameron Heyward, who recently requested an answer to the yes-or-no question that is building toward an ultimatum. With this in mind, Rodgers' visit to the Steelers' facility could be seen as his attempt to start the process of signing with a team, and also as Rodgers' attempt to ease frustration associated with his glacial contemplation.

Until terms are hammered out, though, the wait will continue. Get comfortable, folks.
