Injuries: Justin Houston, Spencer Ware in good shape

The Kansas City Chiefs are reaping the benefits from a first-round bye.

Linebacker Justin Houston and running back Spencer Ware are two players that are feeling better after lingering injuries.

"Everybody that was banged up is good to go now," coach Andy Reid said, mentioning Houston and Ware specifically. Houston sat out the last two weeks of the season due to swelling in his surgically-repaired knee. Ware was dealing with a rib injury and sat out Week 17's division-clinching win over the Chargers.

Here are some other injuries we are tracking on Monday:

  1. Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette via e-mail that his right foot is fine. "Monday's MRI] showed I aggravated an old foot fracture but nothing severe," [Big Ben said. "I should be good to go [Sunday against the Chiefs]."
  1. Packers wide out Jordy Nelsonsuffered at least two fractured ribs in their wild-card win over the Giants, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. Rapoport adds it will take a tremendous effort for Nelson to play. Coach Mike McCarthy told reporters earlier Monday that his star wide receiver has a shot to suit up for this Sunday's NFC divisional-round tilt with the Cowboys. Nelson will spend the week rehabbing the injury, per McCarthy, and will play this weekend if he can practice Saturday.
  1. Seahawks running back C.J. Prosise will practice Tuesday, coach Pete Carroll said on 710 ESPN Seattle. "We would love to have him back ... We'd have no problem fitting him in," Carroll said.

Fullback Marcel Reece's status for Saturday against the Falcons is up in the air, according to Carroll. He could confirm that Reece's foot didn't break.

  1. Texans coach Bill O'Brien told reporters that quarterback Tom Savage is out of the concussion protocol and should be able to play Saturday against the Patriots. Brock Osweiler will start for Houston.
  1. Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski seems to be doing well with rehab after back surgery:
