Injury roundup: Carlos Rogers to miss 49ers' game?

The squad some are calling the hottest team in the NFC is bracing to face the Packers minus its starting cornerback.

The 49ersdon't expect to have Carlos Rogers on the field for Sunday's wild-card showdown with Green Bay, according to Jason Cole of the National Football Post.

Rogers underwent MRI testing Monday on the hamstring he injured in a Week 17 win over the Arizona Cardinals. He leads all 49ers defenders with 1,068 snaps from scrimmage this season, but if he can't dress, expect to see more from corners Tramaine Brock and Eric Wright. San Francisco also signed Perrish Cox on Monday for added support.

Here's the rest of Tuesday's injury roundup:

  1. Chiefs receiver Dwayne Bowe (concussion) returned to practice Tuesday, but has yet to be cleared to play in Saturday's wild-card game against the Colts, per ESPN.com's Adam Teicher. Bowe hasn't played since the team's Week 16 loss to Indianapolis.
  1. Kansas City also placed linebacker James-Michael Johnson on injured reserve with the ankle injury he suffered against the San Diego Chargers on Sunday. Linebacker Robert James was added to the active roster to take his place.

The first two rounds of the NFL's postseason schedule for the 2013 season were released Sunday night. **More ...**

  1. Indianapolis has issues at cornerback, with Vontae Davis (groin) and Greg Toler (groin) missing Tuesday's session, while Darius Butler sat out after playing in Week 17 with a sore quadriceps muscle.
  1. Also for the Colts, linebacker Bjoern Werner watched practice with a brace on his ankle and wideout Darrius Heyward-Bey (undisclosed) missed Tuesday's session, The Indianapolis Star reported. DHB's hardly been a big part of the passing game of late due to the rise of young targets Da'Rick Rogers and Griff Whalen.

While we're here, a few non-playoff guys heading for offseason procedures:

  1. Ravens coach John Harbaugh told reporters Tuesday that cornerback Lardarius Webb will undergo sports hernia surgery, per The Baltimore Sun.
  1. Also for the Ravens, center Gino Gradkowski is headed for a knee scope after starting 16 games this season in place of the retired Matt Birk.
  1. ESPNNewYork.com's Rich Cimini reported that Jets guard Willie Colontore his bicep in New York's win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Bad timing for the 30-year-old lineman ahead of becoming a free agent in March.
  1. Giants quarterback Eli Manning was still on crutches and wearing a walking boot on Tuesday after suffering a high-ankle sprain in the season finale against the Washington Redskins, according to FOXSports.com's Mike Garafolo.
  1. Big Blue offensive tackle Will Beattybroke his leg against Washington, but the team expects him to be ready for the start of next season, according to the New York Daily News. The newspaper also noted that pass rusher Jason Pierre-Paul has yet to rule out surgery on the shoulder that bothered him over the final month of the campaign.
