Injury roundup: Jets' Jalen Saunders in single-car crash

New York Jets rookie receiver Jalen Saunders was involved in a single-car accident Friday morning on the way to the practice facility, the team announced.

Saunders was taken to a hospital and was being monitored as a precaution. It doesn't appear he was seriously injured.

The receiver will not play in Saturday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Saunders caught one pass for 1 yard in 17 snaps and returned two punts for 11 yards in the Jetspreseason opener.

The 5-foot-9 receiver was selected in the fourth round out of Oklahoma. NFL Media analyst Mike Mayock called Saunders "one of the most physical wide receivers in football" during the draft process.

He could be the Jets' primary punt returner as a rookie.

Some other injuries we are tracking:

  1. The Chicago Bearsplaced tight end Zach Miller, who suffered a linsfranc injury in Thursday's preseason game, on injured reserve Friday. Miller will undergo another test to see if there is further damage.
  1. Bears rookie corner Kyle Fuller suffered an ankle injury in the first quarter Thursday night. Initial X-rays were negative.
  1. Jaguars right tackle Austin Pasztor sustained a fractured right hand Thursday and will undergo surgery on Tuesday. His status will be re-evaluated in a month.
  1. Andy Reid announced that Chiefs receiver Dwayne Bowe's "finger is shot." The dislocations are the least of the wideout's worries, after he was suspended for the first game of the 2014 season.
