Injury roundup: Vikings' Dalvin Cook expected to play vs. Packers

"The Chef" is back in the kitchen.

Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook -- listed as questionable with a groin injury -- is expected to play against the Green Bay Packers, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Cook has since been declared as active for today.

As head coach Mike Zimmer indicated Friday, Cook expects a full workload in his return.

In five games this season, the Florida State product has rushed for 489 yards and seven touchdowns. Cook is averaging almost 98 rushing yards per game, second only to Tennessee's Derrick Henry.

The Vikings (1-5) travel to Lambeau to take on the Packers (5-1) at 1 p.m. ET.

Other injury news we are keeping an eye on ahead of Sunday's Week 8 games:

  • Chicago Bears wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson (quad), linebacker Khalil Mack (ankle) and defensive back Eddie Jackson (knee) are all in a position where they appear healthy enough to play against the New Orleans Saints, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.
  • Denver Broncos running back Phillip Lindsay (concussion) is expected to clear concussion protocol and play, according to NFL Network's James Palmer. Meanwhile, wide receiver Tim Patrick (hamstring) is pushing to play, but Denver called up another wideout on Saturday. That's generally an indication it'll be another week for Patrick, according to Rapoport.
  • Las Vegas Raiders tackle Trent Brown was a surprise inactive today. Brown felt ill ahead of the game but did not exhibit any COVID-19 symptoms, according to Rapoport. Wide receiver Bryan Edwards (foot/ankle) and defensive end Arden Key (foot) are inactive today vs, the Browns. Edwards was listed as questionable while Key was listed as doubtful.
  • Indianapolis Colts tight end Mo Alie-Cox (knee) will work out pre-game, but there is optimism that he'll be out there against the Detroit Lions, according to Rapoport. Cox has since been declared as active today and so is center Ryan Kelly, who was also listed as questionable.
  • Detroit Lions tackle Taylor Decker is officially active after being listed as questionable with a shoulder injury. Cornerback Desmond Trufant, however, is inactive with a hamstring injury that has kept him out all season.
  • Los Angeles Rams tight end Tyler Higbee (hand) is pushing to play against the Miami Dolphins, but with the bye coming up and Johnny Mundt filling in capably, it might make sense to rest Higbee again and let him heal. Higbee could sit for those reasons, Rapoport reports.
  • New England Patriots running back Damien Harris (ankle), listed as questionable, is expected to play against the Buffalo Bills, per Rapoport. Harris has since been declared as active and the same goes for cornerback J.C. Jackson, defensive tackle Lawrence Guy, and guards Joe Thuney and Shaq Mason, who were all listed as questionable. Meanwhile, tight end Devin Asiasi did not travel with the team to Buffalo for personal reasons and will not play Sunday.
  • Buffalo Bills safety Micah Hyde (concussion) is officially inactive after being listed as questionable. Linebacker Matt Milano and defensive end Jerry Hughes, however, are active after being listed as questionable.
  • Baltimore Ravens running back Mark Ingram might miss more than just Sunday's game against the Steelers. Rapoport reported that the RB is dealing with a high-ankle sprain that could hold him out of next week's contest against the Colts. Ingram was officially declared as inactive, but linebacker Anthony Levine (abdomen) and cornerback Jimmy Smith (Achilles) are both active after being listed as questionable.
  • Pittsburgh Steeler cornerback Mike Hilton (shoulder) is officially inactive vs. the Ravens. Fullback Derek Watt is active after missing the past few weeks with a hamstring injury.
  • Los Angeles Rams tight end Tyler Higbee, who was listed as questionable with a hand injury, is active today vs. the Dolphins. Higbee missed last week's game because of the injury.
  • New York Jets wideout Jamison Crowder and kicker Sam Ficken, who were both listed as doubtful, are officially inactive today vs. the Chiefs.
  • Philadelphia Eagles tackle Lane Johnson (knee/ankle) is questionable for tonight's game vs. the Cowboys. The team updated Johnson's status on Sunday morning.
  • Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver John Ross, who has called for a trade in recent days, is a healthy scratch vs. Tennessee.
