The Miami Dolphins shook up their wide receiver unit on Tuesday, releasing Legedu Naanee and signing Jabar Gaffney.
Gaffney, 31, spent last season with the Washington Redskins, where he set career highs in receptions (68) and receiving yards (947). His five touchdowns matched a personal best.
Gaffney was released by the New England Patriots during training camp after suffering a right hip injury. He signed with the Dolphins one month after visiting the team for a workout.

Naanee went from a success story in training camp to out of work in one month. He was demoted from a starting role and was held without a catch in the Dolphins' first three games. His first and only reception of the season was followed by a lost fumble in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 24-21 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
ProFootballFocus.com (via the South Florida Sun Sentinel) had Naanee ranked 145th out of 148 receivers who have played in the NFL this season.
If Gaffney is healthy, he represents a significant upgrade who gives Ryan Tannehill a proven commodity alongside Brian Hartline, who's coming off a monster game in Week 4.
The Dolphins also terminated the contract of defensive lineman Andre Fluellen and waived/injured linebacker Mike Rivera.
