Jared Goff on Rams' struggles: I'll give it my all to fix it

The Rams held a one-touchdown lead Saturday in a game that seemed to drag on forever with little cause for excitement.

Then the fourth quarter arrived, the Niners mounted a furious comeback and Jared Goff had a nice little opportunity to boost his Q Score. A game-sealing interception likely isn't what he had in mind, though.

Goff's throw went wide of Brian Quick and into the hands of Rashard Robinson, ending Los Angeles' comeback attempt in the final minute (with all three timeouts still remaining) and ultimately completing San Francisco's unlikely victory. It was Goff's second of the day, and a microcosm of the offense's collective struggle to convert when it was most needed, be it on third down or on a drive late in the fourth quarter.

"I thought there were some good things we did, I thought there were some, obviously, bad things I did," Goff said, via the team's official site. "We need to be better. I need to be better -- I need to be better for us to win."

No one is disagreeing with that last sentiment. Goff is a rookie and has looked much like one. His stat line Saturday -- 11-of-24 passing, 90 yards, one touchdown, two interceptions -- was even uglier.

But then, the brash promise. Goff doesn't know who his coach will be in 2017, but he's certain the Rams will be better.

"I'll say this -- to all the fans and everybody that came out today, we're appreciative and understand where we are," Goff said. "We know that they understand where we are. It's just hard, I know they see it -- it's hard in the locker room, it's hard for all of us. But I promise you guys it will get fixed -- [I'll give] everything in my heart and soul to get it all fixed."

Goff has plenty of strides that he needs to make to live up to his first-overall pick status, but the Rams' issues go well beyond their quarterback. It should be encouraging, though, to see the rookie taking ownership so early in his career.
