Jets sign C Wallace to practice squad, release G Rinehart

The New York Jets have signed center Cody Wallace to the practice squad and have released guard Chad Rinehart from the practice squad, general manager Mike Tannenbaum announced Wednesday morning.

Wallace originally was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the fourth round in 2008 (107th overall) out of Texas A&M. He played two games for the 49ers last season. He signed with the Detroit Lions' practice squad on Sept. 21 and was released on Oct. 3.

Rinehart had been with the Jets since Sept. 29. He was a 2008 third-round draft choice (96th) of the Washington Redskins from Northern Iowa. He played five games for the Redskins last season and made one start before sustaining a season-ending broken leg in November. He was released during the Redskins' final cutdown last month.
