Denver Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins has a little extra motivation to hit the century mark Sunday against his former team, the Los Angeles Chargers.
"Hopefully I'll touch 100 this week," he said Thursday, via Chris Tomasson of the Denver Gazette. "However, that may be. However many touches that may be. I'm going to try to touch 100 this week, for sure. It will only be right. I'm back to where I used to play."
Dobbins led Denver with 14 carries, 76 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown in Week 2, his second consecutive game with 60-plus yards and a score. It's the first time Dobbins has had back-to-back such games since Weeks 1-2 last season in L.A.
Dobbins spent 2024 with the Chargers, leading the club with 195 carries, 905 rushing yards and nine rushing scores.
L.A. signed former Steelers RB Najee Harris and drafted Omarion Hampton in the first round, forcing Dobbins to seek work elsewhere. He signed a one-year, $5.25 million contract in Denver.
Despite the perception that L.A. didn't want to bring Dobbins back, the veteran said this week that wasn't the case; it was simply that the sides didn't "see eye-to-eye" on his value.
"They did (want me), but we did not see eye-to-eye, and business is business," he said. "They did what they had to do, I did what I had to do."
What Dobbins seeks to do Sunday is make the Chargers miss his presence in powder blue.
