Tennessee Titans wide receiver Justin Hunter suffered a lacerated spleen Sunday versus the Houston Texans and was taken to an area hospital.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported that Hunter will remain in a hospital in Houston and is expected to be released in the next day or so as he continues to be monitored while being treated for a lacerated spleen, per the Titans.
The belief is that he won't need surgery, per Rapoport.
Hunter was hit hard by Texans safety Danieal Manning early in the game on an interception. He returned to the game, but ultimately left and was taken to the hospital where the injury was diagnosed.
Here is some other injury news we are following Monday:
- DeSean Jackson's fibula contusion is considered minor, Rapoport reported. Jackson is not expected to miss time, per a source close to him. Jackson was carted from Sunday's game and later returned to the sideline after being ruled out of the contest.
- Rapoport reported that the Achilles injury suffered by Texans corner Johnathan Joseph is not believed to be major, per a source who spoke to the player. The source described it as a strain and Joseph might not miss any time.
- Panthers coach Ron Rivera said running back DeAngelo Williams has a fractured bone in his right middle finger and is day-to-day.
- The worst-case scenario for Arizona Cardinals safety Tyrann Mathieu: A pin inserted into his thumb, after which he would miss three weeks, coach Bruce Arians said Monday, via the team's official site. Arians added that Mathieu could also get a cast on his thumb and play through the injury.
Also for the Cards: Running back Andre Ellington did not suffer any structural damage to his hip in Sunday's game, per Rapoport, via a source close to the player. Ellington is "sore and in pain," Rapoport said, but he will undergo treatment and hopes to not miss any game time. The Cardinals will know more later in the week.
- Chip Kelly announced that Nick Foles had another exam on his collarbone. The Eagles coach said the bone is healing, but not totally healed and the quarterback is still not cleared to play.
- Chiefs coach Andy Reid announced Monday running back Jamaal Charles has a bruised knee.Â
- The Jaguars will likely be without Austin Pasztor for the rest of the season, per the team's official site. The starting right tackle sustained a ruptured hamstring Sunday.
- Jim Harbaugh said on Monday that he expects another week of rehab for middle linebacker NaVorro Bowman.
- On Monday the Steelers placed defensive end Brett Keisel (triceps) on IR.
- Mike Smith is optimistic about Roddy White's (ankle) availability for Monday's game against the Packers, per ESPN.
- John Harbaugh announced that Torrey Smith is day to day. The Ravens wide receiver injured his knee on Sunday against the Chargers.
On the defensive side, Baltimore expects that Asa Jackson (toe) will be able to return to the field this week.
- The Browns announced that wide receiver Miles Austin (kidney) will spend another night in a Buffalo hospital for precautionary reasons.
- Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt said that Zach Mettenberger's shoulder injury is not serious and the team hopes that he can play on Sunday against the Giants.
- Dolphins receiver Brian Hartline injured his knee Monday night and never returned to the game.
- Jets wideout Greg Salas suffered a hamstring injury and was ruled out.Â
