L.J. active for Dolphins; Haynesworth set for Patriots debut

MIAMI -- Two-time Pro Bowl running back Larry Johnson was active for the Dolphins' Monday night game against the New England Patriots.

Johnson was cut two weeks ago, then re-signed Thursday. He provides depth behind starter Reggie Bush in the absence of rookie running back Daniel Thomas, who was ruled inactive because of a hamstring injury.

Defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth missed practice Saturday with an illness, but he was set to make his regular-season debut for the Patriots.

Among those inactive for New England were linebacker Brandon Spikes, right tackle Sebastian Vollmer, running back Shane Vereen and rookie quarterback Ryan Mallett.

The Patriots signed offensive lineman Thomas Welch from their practice squad Monday and waived linebacker Jeff Tarpinian. Welch was active for the game.

Inactive for the Dolphins: linebacker Ikaika Alama-Francis, defensive end Ryan Baker, offensive tackle Ryan Cook, running back Charles Clay, wide receiver Marlin Moore and tight end Will Yeatman.
