The Detroit Lions overcame three interceptions by franchise quarterback Matt Stafford for a come-from-behind 27-23 win over the St. Louis Rams at Ford Field. Stafford capped a 9-play, 80-yard drive with a 5-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Smith with 10 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
Here's what we learned on a day where the Lions commemorated their 2011 playoff run with a banner hung in the rafters:
» The Lions are still slinging it. Stafford put it in the air 48 times for 355 yards Sunday and easily would have reached 400 yards if not for a few drops. The game could have been a blowout if the Rams had not intercepted Stafford three times, including a Cortland Finnegan pick six.
» The Rams' offense still has a way to go. They finished with 251 yards and were 4-for-12 on third downs. And this was a Lions' secondary without safety Louis Delmas, cornerback Chris Houston, and cornerback Bill Bentley left with a possible concussion in the third quarter.
» The Lions' defensive line was dominant for stretches. Ndamukong Suh, Corey Williams and Nick Fairley all had sacks.
» Rams left tackle Rodger Saffold was carted off of the field with a neck injury. NFL.com and NFL Network's Steve Wyche reports that Saffold has movement in his extremities and his spinal X-rays were negative, according to the team. Center Scott Wells left with a foot injury.
