Luke Joeckel out for Jaguars' season with broken ankle

The Jacksonville Jaguarstraded awayEugene Monroe earlier this week in order to move Luke Joeckel to his natural position at left tackle. That experiment didn't even last one quarter.

Joeckel was carted off the field during the first quarter of Sunday's 34-20 loss to the St. Louis Rams with what Jaguars coach Gus Bradley later revealed was a season-ending ankle fracture. Joeckel, the second overall pick of April's draft, went down while blocking for running back Maurice Jones-Drew, crumpling to the ground after a Rams defender rolled up his right leg.

It's a disastrous loss for Jacksonville, which is down to just Austin Pasztor and Cameron Bradfield at tackle and also lost quarterback Blaine Gabbert on Sunday to a hamstring injury.
