Mike Tice sees 'rising star' on Raiders offensive line

As the Raiders continue to develop a player they hope becomes a franchise cornerstone in Derek Carr, it's vital that the players in front of the quarterback do their part.

New Raiders offensive line coach Mike Tice believes in his guys.

"I'm pretty excited about the group I have to work with," Tice told SiriusXM NFL Radio, via CSNBayArea.com. "First of all, it's the biggest -- I was telling my wife and some friends the other day -- it's the biggest, most athletic group of guys I've worked with before."

"I think the guys on the offensive side are very impressive," Tice went on. "We have a good blend of older and middle-aged and some younger guys that are going be to rising stars in the league."

Tice singled out second-year guard Gabe Jackson, who the coach said had the best offseason of any lineman.

"I think he's a rising star," Tice said. "I think he has a chance to be a really good one."

For the first time in years, there is some hope in Oakland and the offensive side of the ball is a major reason why. Latavius Murray is an exciting running back prospect and the addition of Amari Cooper gives the team a potential star wide receiver. If the line does its job, Carr has everything he needs to take the next step.
