Extension for Matt Ryan?

Atlanta Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff told Rich Hollenberg that the Falcons will not be signing free-agent defensive lineman Richard Seymour anytime soon in order to make sure they have the cap room to extend Matt Ryan.

Falcons in 2013

Tomlinson and Sharper debated which weakness is a bigger concern for the Falcons, the offensive line or the front seven. Tomlinson went with the offensive line, saying he is skeptical the right side of the line is good enough. Sharper went with the front seven, noting the Falcons always are toward the bottom of the league in sacks.

Gronk update

Rapoport said New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski's fifth offseason surgery went well, but he will start training camp on the physically unable to perform list. Gronkowski might be ready for Week 1.

32 in 32: Saints

Tomlinson said first-round draft pick Kenny Vaccaro was the New Orleans Saints' best offseason addition, while Sharper went with defensive coordinator Rob Ryan. Tomlinson said Pierre Thomas is a better player and a more explosive runner than Mark Ingram. Sharper said the Saints were undisciplined last season without coach Sean Payton.

Earl Thomas confident

Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas called San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh salty after the beat down the Seahawks put on the 49ers in Week 16. Thomas said the players only meeting they had in connection with performance-enhancing drugs went well and he believes the message was received. He said new defensive back Antoine Winfield is a big upgrade in the secondary over Marcus Trufant who is now with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Bishop's suitors

Rapoport said free-agent linebacker Desmond Bishop will have several options including the Minnesota Vikings, Kansas City Chiefs and Jacksonville Jaguars. Rapoport said Arizona Cardinals coach Bruce Arians plans to move receiver Larry Fitzgerald all over the field the same way he did with Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne last season.

Seahawks versus 49ers

Tomlinson and Sharper both said the Seahawks are better than the 49ers. L.T. said Niners wide receiver Michael Crabtree's injury and the Seahawks' acquisition of Percy Harvin tips the scales. Thomas said Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson always is prepared and that's what allows him to play so well.

Jackson primed for big 2013

Tomlinson said we can expect a ninth consecutive 1,000-yard season from running back Steven Jackson with the Falcons this season. He also said Jackson is a better threat than Michael Turner was in the passing game, noting Jackson had 90 receptions in 2006.
