The San Francisco 49ers can lock up the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoffs with a win Sunday over the St. Louis Rams, and their chances for doing that received a boost when the team announced star linebacker Patrick Willis would play after missing three games with a hamstring injury.
Willis, who practiced every day this week, previously was listed as questionable. He will be joined on the field by cornerback Carlos Rogers (knee).
The 49ers also are without two wide receivers for the regular-season finale, with wide receiver and return man Ted Ginn Jr. sidelined by an ankle injury and Kyle Williams out with a concussion. Neither practiced all week. Brett Swain starts for Ginn. Wide receiver Joe Hastings was promoted from the practice squad.
As expected, Rams quarterback Sam Bradford (ankle) won't play against the 49ers. Bradford has endured a rough sophomore season, missing six total games and throwing for just six touchdowns.
Backup A.J. Feeley misses his fourth in a row with a broken thumb on his throwing hand, leaving journeyman Kellen Clemens to make his third consecutive start.
