Though he's yet to take the field for the Green Bay Packers in 2025, wide receiver Christian Watson is most certainly in the club's future plans.
Watson is signing a one-year, $13.25 million extension with the Packers, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported on Tuesday evening. Green Bay announced the signing on Wednesday.
Watson is currently on the physically unable to perform list whilst on the mend from a torn ACL suffered last season. However, the 2022 second-round pick is amid the final year of his rookie contract, so Green Bay had a decision to make regarding the explosive yet oft-injured talent.
Now, Watson is on the books for the Packers through 2026.
Watsons suffered a torn ACL in a Week 18 loss to the Chicago Bears during the 2024 season.
It actually concluded Watson's lengthiest season so far as he played 14 games as a rookie, nine in 2023 and 15 in 2024. Watson turned in 29 receptions for 620 yards and an astounding 21.4 yards per catch last season.
A big play waiting to happen, Watson's talent and impact have never been questioned, but his availability has been a massive concern. Now, he'll be able to focus on getting healthy and returning later this season without worrying about earning a new deal.
