Panthers re-sign OT Petitti to shore up line, waive RB Vaughan

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Carolina Panthers have re-signed tackle Rob Petitti to add depth to their banged-up offensive line.

Reserve running back Josh Vaughan was waived Wednesday to make room for Petitti, who was cut by the Panthers in September.

The Panthers needed an extra body with right guard Geoff Schwartz sitting out practice with a sore back. Left guard Travelle Wharton remains sidelined with turf toe.

Linebacker James Anderson (concussion) and cornerback Captain Munnerlyn (shoulder) also missed practice.

Cornerback Chris Gamble (hamstring), quarterbacks Brian St. Pierre (shoulder) and Tony Pike (shoulder), running back Tyrell Sutton (ankle), safeties Jordan Pugh (hamstring) and Marcus Hudson (ankle) and cornerback Robert McClain (hip) were limited at practice.
