Pierre Thomas to miss 2-3 weeks with shoulder injury

The Saints aren't a team in the market for more bad news, but such is the life for an under-performing Super Bowl contender sitting at 2-4.

The latest? Running back Pierre Thomaswill miss two to three weeks with a shoulder injury, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.

Thomas left Sunday's loss to Detroit early with the shoulder issue.

On the season, Thomas has just 30 carries for 133 yards, but he'll be seriously missed in the passing game. Thomas has by far the most targets out of any Saints running back, 29, and has come away with 26 catches so far.

At this point, the Saints are almost out of weeks in which they can sustain another loss and seriously consider a playoff run, and games against the Packers, Panthers, 49ers, Bengals and Ravens loom. They'll hope that Thomas' injury is on the short side.
