Bills QB Josh Allen, Vikings QB Sam Darnold highlight September Players of the Month

Who were the NFL's top stars in September? Each month the league unveils its honor roll. See who the Players of the Month are below.

AFC Offensive Player of the Month

Josh Allen
Buffalo Bills · QB

Allen has been a one-man wrecking crew for the Bills, dominating by land and air. He's racked up nine total touchdowns, including seven passing scores without an interception. All told, Allen has completed 70 of 101 passes (69.3%) for 814 yards, while also rushing for 106 yards and a pair of TDs. Buffalo is in first place in the AFC East, and Allen has most certainly led it there.  

NFC Offensive Player of the Month

Sam Darnold
Minnesota Vikings · QB

Darnold has found a career renaissance in the North Star State. He's been a guiding light for the undefeated Vikings (4-0), throwing for an NFL-high 11 touchdowns. He's completed 73 of 106 passes (68.9%) for 932 yards, authoring a surprising start for Minnesota and a feel-good story for himself through four weeks.

AFC Defensive Player of the Month

Kyle Van Noy
Baltimore Ravens · MLB

The veteran linebacker has been in prime form through September for the Ravens. Van Noy has piled up eight tackles, seven tackles for loss, a forced fumble and a pass breakup. Most eye-popping, though, is that Van Noy is leading the AFC with six sacks. He's tallied two apiece in Baltimore's victories over the past two games.

NFC Defensive Player of the Month

Aidan Hutchinson
Detroit Lions · DE

Hutchinson has exploded off the edge to start the season for the Lions. The Motor City madman has racked up a league-leading 6.5 sacks through four games. He's added 16 tackles, six tackles for loss and a forced fumble.

AFC Special Teams Player of the Month

Chris Boswell
Pittsburgh Steelers · K

Boswell's been a staple in the Steelers' 3-1 start, putting up 39 points in four games. Six of those points came on a perfect 6-of-6 on point-after touchdowns and the rest came on 11 field goals in 12 attempts. Boswell has been dialing in from long distance, as well, converting five of six attempts from 50 yards and beyond.

NFC Special Teams Player of the Month

Brandon Aubrey
Dallas Cowboys · K

The long leg of the west has been a marvel in September, turning 50-plus field goals into child's play. In all, Aubrey racked up 43 points in the month, making good on all seven of his extra points and 12 of his 13 field goal attempts. Of his field goals, Aubrey is 6 of 7 from 50 yards or longer, with mind-spinning makes of 60 and 65(!) yards to his credit.

Offensive Rookie of the Month

Jayden Daniels
Washington Commanders · QB

Astoundingly accurate through the air and hugely successful on the ground, Daniels has taken the league by storm in his first month. The No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Daniels' 82.1% completion percentage leads the league and his four rushing touchdowns are tied for fourth. Daniels has led the Commanders to first place in the NFC East, completing 87 of 106 passes for 897 yards, three touchdowns and just one interception in four games. He's also rushed for 218 yards.

Defensive Rookie of the Month

Jared Verse
Los Angeles Rams · LB

The 19th-overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft has exploded onto the scene, as he leads the Rams with 16 QB pressures, five tackles for loss and four run stuffs. Verse has been an instant contributor and havoc-wreaker for L.A., also tallying 19 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble in his first month of NFL ball.
