Rams clinch NFC West title thanks to strength of victory tiebreaker over Seahawks

The Los Angeles Rams celebrated a victory on Saturday.

On Sunday, a playoff celebration followed.

The Rams, who defeated the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday night, clinched the NFC West title thanks to a strength of victory tiebreaker over the Seattle Seahawks. L.A. earned that tiebreaker on Sunday by virtue of wins by the Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills, Minnesota Vikings and Washington Commanders. It was the Commanders' Sunday night win, one in which Washington clinched a playoff berth itself, that was the official clincher to send the Rams to the postseason.

The Rams improved to 10-6 on the season with their win over the Cards. The Seahawks (9-7), who defeated the Chicago Bears on Thursday, can match L.A. in overall record with a win over the Rams next week, but that win would only split the season series, resulting in the tiebreaking process.

Los Angeles is now playoff-bound for the sixth time in eight seasons under Sean McVay and has won its first division crown since the 2021 season, when it went on to win the Super Bowl.

The Rams are rolling right now, having won five in a row, clinched a playoff spot on their off day and are 9-2 since their bye.
