For the third season in a row and the seventh in head coach Sean McVay's nine-year tenure, the Los Angeles Rams are headed to the postseason.
Los Angeles became the first NFL team to punch its ticket to the playoff dance with its 41-34 win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon.
The NFC's top-seeded Rams improved to 11-3 with three games still to play, already their highest win total since winning the Super Bowl in 2021.
One of two teams -- along with the NFC West-rival Seattle Seahawks -- boasting a top-five offense and defense entering Week 15, the Rams garnered plenty of preseason Super Bowl buzz and have followed suit right along that path. They won their second game in a row Sunday and their eighth out of the last nine.
Quarterback Matthew Stafford has become an MVP front-runner and, in his fifth year with L.A., he's bound for his fourth postseason with the Rams, exceeding the three playoff trips he made in a dozen seasons with the Lions.
Next on the agenda before the playoffs commence will be maintaining and clinching the NFCâs No. 1 seed and wrapping up back-to-back NFC West titles.
The Rams have a short week and a showdown with the Seahawks on Thursday Night Football ahead in Week 16 before Week 17 and 18 tilts against the sub-.500 Atlanta Falcons and Arizona Cardinals, respectively.
