Ravens TE Mark Andrews: Returning to Buffalo in Week 1 after postseason drop will be 'great story'

Mark Andrews' seventh NFL season ended in excruciating fashion, dropping a potential game-tying two-point conversion in the postseason loss to the Buffalo Bills.

The NFL schedule makers have forced Andrews and the Ravens to relive that moment right off the bat, sending Baltimore to Buffalo in Week 1 on Sunday Night Football to open the 2025 campaign.

"It's going to be a great story," he said on Tuesday, via the team’s official website. "I'm excited about that game."

Earlier this spring, Andrews acknowledged he "still should have caught the ball" despite soaking gloves from falling into a snow pile the play before.

Dropping a potential game-altering two-point play culminated a year of frustration for the star tight end. While he put up 11 touchdowns, Andrews generated just 673 yards on 55 catches in 17 games, far below the production from his Pro Bowl years. His 39.6 yards per game were the worst since his rookie season in 2018 -- he'd never been under 50 yards per game in any other season.

There were rumors this offseason that Baltimore could trade the soon-to-be 30-year-old, chatter which has quieted as we approach the campaign. Andrews said he's just kept his head down and strived to be the best Raven he can be.

"I try not to look outside the box often," Andrews said. "I know the type of player I am, the type of man I am. All those things looking forward, I know they're going to help me grow, get better, be the player I'm meant to be, and get to that end goal which I'm incredibly focused on."

Andrews enters the final year of his contract, in what could be his last season in Baltimore. That reality isn't something that the veteran is focusing on at this stage.

"For me, it's not looking too far ahead," Andrews said. "It's living in the moment. I'm thankful to be here this year, to be able to compete for this organization and compete for this city. I just want people to know that. It really means everything to me."
