Redskins sign ex-Eagle Harris to fill hole at safety

ASHBURN, Va. -- The Washington Redskins have added safety Macho Harris to their injury-depleted secondary.

The Redskins announced Tuesday that they had signed Harris, a fifth-round draft pick by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2009. He played in 15 games, including eight starts, as a rookie, but the Eagles released him in September at the end of preseason.

The Redskins are again expected to be without starting safety LaRon Landry for this weekend's game against the Minnesota Vikings. Landry is nursing an injury to his left Achilles' tendon.

The Redskins also lost backup safety Anderson Russell for the season when he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during Sunday's 19-16 overtime victory over the Tennessee Titans. Russell has been placed on injured reserve.

The Redskins also signed running back Kestahn Moore to the practice squad.
