Report: Chung to miss Sunday's game after thumb surgery

New England's Patrick Chung had surgery on his injured right thumb this week, and according to a report from the Boston Herald, the Patriots safety will miss Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills.

Chung was hurt during the second half of the Patriots' 35-21 win over the Chargers. He left the field with New England's medical staff at the time of the injury but later returned with a cast on his right hand. Chung finished the game with five tackles to push his season total to 14.

Defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth (back) missed his second consecutive practice Thursday.

New England added depth to its defensive back corps on Wednesday with the signing of second-year pro Phillip Adams. Adams was a seventh-round draft pick of the San Francisco 49ers in 2010.
