Report: Justin Forsett on Atlanta Falcons' radar

If Justin Forsett hits the open market, the Baltimore Ravens will have competition for his services.

The Atlanta Falcons will have "strong interest" if Forsett reaches free agency, reports Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com.

It's a fit that makes plenty of sense.

Forsett played with the Seahawks when new Falcons boss Dan Quinn was in Seattle from 2009 to 2010. Perhaps more importantly, Forsett has excelled in the zone blocking scheme that is a staple of new coordinator Kyle Shanahan's offense.

Forsett's biggest NFL supporter is Gary Kubiak, who was head coach in Houston when Shanahan ran the Texans offense late last decade.

Although the Falcons have expressed confidence in second-year back Devonta Freeman, they still need a tag-team partner with Steven Jackson likely to be released and Jacquizz Rodgers poised to reach free agency.

Forsett would provide stability after leading the NFL in yards per carry (5.4) and runs over 20 yards (17) last season.

There might not be a frenzied market awaiting an undersized 29-year-old journeyman with a stretch-zone skill set, but all it takes is one team to drive up the price on the Ravens.
