Report: Pats bringing in ex-Cowboys center Gurode for visit

Former Dallas Cowboys center Andre Gurode will visit the New England Patriots on Saturday, according to the Boston Herald.

NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora reported that Gurode, 32, would visit the Detroit Lions on Friday after being cut by the Cowboys on Monday.

The Cowboys cited Gurode's age and salary, along with his decision to have knee surgery so late during the offseason, in the decision to cut him, but the Herald reported multiple teams are interested in the veteran.

Adding the center would make for an interesting reunion with defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth, who received a five-game suspension after kicking Gurode in the face during a 2006 game between the Cowboys and Tennessee Titans, Haynesworth's old team.

The violence occurred after the Cowboys had scored a touchdown on a Julius Jones run. With Gurode lying helmet-less on the ground, Haynesworth repeatedly kicked him above the neck. Gurode left the game with blurry vision and received stitches above his forehead and below his eye from the attack.

"I apologize to Andre," Haynesworth told The New York Times after the incident. "What I did was disgusting. It's something that should never happen. I mean, I'm not a dirty player. I don't play dirty. I have respect for the game. What I feel like is, I disgraced the game, disgraced my team and disgraced my last name."
