Saints reveal new alternate white helmet for 2025 season

The Saints are expanding their uniform closet in 2025.

New Orleans revealed a new white helmet via social media Wednesday.

The white shell features a black flake in the paint, producing a base that might remind some dessert lovers of vanilla bean ice cream, and presents a new facemask color for the franchise: gold. The helmet also introduces a new tri-color stripe down the center of the helmet that is dominated by a wide gold stripe flanked by two thin black stripes, with two even thinner white stripes separating the two color blocks.

In the ever-expanding realm of alternate headgear, this stands as an upgrade for the Saints. New Orleans first dipped their toes in the alternate helmet waters in 2022 when they introduced a black shell that reversed the colors of their fleur-de-lis logo and included a tapered stripe down the middle composed entirely of tiny gold fleur-de-lis marks.

This helmet once again incorporates mini fleur-de-lis, but in a subtle fashion within the gold stripe, an understated approach that should only reveal itself when viewed at the proper lighting angle. The Saints' primary stylized lily flower logo appears in the same form as it did on the black helmet, but makes a greater impression when placed over both sides of the white shell.

It is unclear if the new white shell is a third option (with their standard gold and alternate black helmets being the other two), or if the white headgear is replacing the black helmet they debuted in 2022. They offered a clue by subsequently announcing the white helmet would be worn with their all-white color rush uniform, which had previously served as the home for the alternate black shell.

The pairing should make much more sense visually, especially when considering it appears they've color-corrected their shade of gold to match the darker tone worn on the throwback-inspired color rush uniforms.

Typically, New Orleans reserves this secondary uniform for primetime games but the 2025 schedule currently doesn't include any games set for standalone viewing windows. The team has not yet announced when they might wear the helmet in 2025, the first season in club history in which they'll take the field in white headgear.
