Seahawks' Hasselbeck active for decisive NFC West showdown

Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck is active but Charlie Whitehurst started for the Seattle Seahawks in their showdown with the St. Louis Rams to decide the NFC West title.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll confirmed just before kickoff what he had been saying all week -- that Whitehurst would start after Hasselbeck injured his hip last week at Tampa Bay.

Hasselbeck warmed up on the field for about 20 minutes approximately two hours before kickoff. He threw a number of passes downfield before jogging back to the locker room while Whitehurst remained on the field throwing.

"If we need him we're going to call on him," Carroll said of Hasselbeck

Receiver Brandon Stokley (head) was the only injury-related inactive for Seattle. St. Louis had no players inactive who were listed on Friday's injury report.

Rams inactives include S Michael Lewis, CB Justin King, LB David Nixon, LB Curtis Johnson, G John Greco, WR Mardy Gilyard, TE Derek Schouman and DT Jermelle Cudjo.

Other Seahawks inactives are JP Losman (No. 3 QB), LB Joe Pawelek, G Paul Fanaika, OT Breno Giacomini, OT William Robinson, G Stacy Andrews and DE Amon Gordon.
