Seahawks sign guard Hamilton, who has zone-blocking experience

SEATTLE -- The Seahawks announced Tuesday that they have signed veteran guard Ben Hamilton, an unrestricted free agent, but they didn't disclose terms of the deal.

Hamilton, 32, spent nine seasons with the Denver Broncos, playing mostly in the same zone-blocking system that the Seahawks will employ under new coach Pete Carroll and offensive line coach Alex Gibbs next season.

Hamilton was a fourth-round pick of the Broncos in 2001, and he started 80 consecutive games from 2002 to 2006. Gibbs was an assistant in Denver for the first two of those seasons.

Hamilton missed the 2007 season because of concussion symptoms, then returned in 2008 to start all 16 games. He played 15 games with eight starts last season.

Hamilton has started 104 of 111 career games.
