Texans GM Nick Caserio 'absolutely open' to Stefon Diggs returning

Stefon Diggs' run in Houston lasted just eight games in 2024 before the receiver tore his ACL in late October.

During a Wednesday interview with SportsRadio 610, Texans general manager Nick Caserio said he's "absolutely open" to Diggs returning in 2025.

"We have good relationships with Stef and his representation," Caserio said, via the Houston Chronicle. "We enjoyed having Stef in the building. So, the door is always open. A number of players have expressed sentiments and interest in potentially returning to our team next season. We never rule anything out, so we're going to be open-minded."

The Texans sent fifth- and sixth-round picks to Buffalo for Diggs last offseason. After the trade, the sides agreed to wipe out the final three seasons of the wideout's deal, putting him on a path to free agency in 2025.

The 31-year-old profiles as one of the top receiver options in free agency, but the injury, coupled with his age and drop-off in production, could curtail his suitors. It's possible Diggs could ink a one-year deal to prove he's back to Pro Bowl form before hitting the market again in 2026. With a glut of WR-needy clubs, however, Diggs could price himself out of Houston.

With Tank Dell also suffering a brutal knee injury late last season, putting his 2025 in question, the Texans have a need at wideout opposite Nico Collins. They could seek to bring back Diggs for another go-round or opt for a younger option in the draft. While upgrading the offensive line in front of C.J. Stroud should be priority No. 1 in Houston this offseason, adding another receiver option is on the wish list. One question is whether new offensive coordinator Nick Caley views Diggs as a good fit in his scheme.
