Titans, Brett Kern agree on multiyear contract

A big season for Titans punter Brett Kern has led to a big reward.

The Titans announced Saturday that the team has agreed on a multi-year contract with the veteran. The National Football Post reports the deal is worth $15 million over five years.

Kern, 29, set a franchise record with a 40.8 net average during the 2014 season. He averaged 46.8 yards per punt and 28 of his boots resulted in the opposition starting inside their own 20.

The Titans ponied up to keep Kern in the building, but they'll want to see less of him in 2015. Kern set a career high with 88 punts last year. By comparison, Chris Jones of the Cowboys had 31 less punts in the same number of games.

Feel free to store that nugget in your mind and break it out at cocktail parties.
