Veteran safety Alexander says he has signed with Dolphins

Veteran free-agent safety Gerald Alexander announced Sunday via Twitter that he has signed with the Miami Dolphins.

"Miami Dolphins!!!!! LETS GO!" Alexander wrote.

The fifth-year pro followed that with a series of tweets, including, "the ink just dried. I will learn both positions."

The Dolphins announced the move Monday, but didn't reveal terms of the deal.

Alexander, who has 30 starts in 41 career games, played three games for the Jacksonville Jaguars and two for the Carolina Panthers during the 2010 season.

Yeremiah Bell is the Dolphins' starting strong safety, and Chris Clemons is the starter at free safety. Sixth-year pro Tyrone Culver, second-year pro Reshad Jones and rookie Mark Restelli are the other safeties on the Dolphins' roster.
