Browns' Myles Garrett: 'Any team that's going to go far needs a quarterback'

Myles Garrett returned to the Cleveland Browns confident that, despite earlier misgivings, he can compete for a Super Bowl before heading to Canton to get his gold jacket.

The key for Cleveland will be finally finding a solution under center, a task that has impeded the organization for generations.

"Any team that's going to go far needs a quarterback and one that's young, can learn and is willing to be patient with the process," Garrett told Browns Radio Network, per a video from Content Browns. "There's going to be some bumps in the road. It's going to be some learning pains. But us as a team has to be able to be a landing pad for him to fall back on, and know being on the defensive side, to help him out whenever things go wrong."

Kenny Pickett currently sits as the lone quarterback option in Cleveland this season, with Deshaun Watson on track to miss another year due to injury. With Russell Wilson, who previously visited the club, signing in New York, the non-Pickett options for the Browns seem to be a rookie -- unless they can convince the Atlanta Falcons and Kirk Cousins to swing a trade.

Holding the No. 2 pick, the Browns worked out Cam Ward, who could go No. 1 overall. The club also plans to meet with Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders. If they don't go QB with the No. 2 overall pick, Jaxson Dart or Jalen Milroe become targets later in the draft.

Given the options, Garrett knows 2025 will be another season where the Browns defense will have to carry the water if Cleveland is to have success.

"That's not for just a young quarterback. That's for veterans and guys who've been here for a while," Garrett said. "So as far as quarterbacks, whether it's one from the draft or an older guy, they have some help not only in their room but from some of the veterans."
